Membrane electrode:MEA (membrane electrode assembly) is the core component of proton exchange membrane fuel cell, which is the place of energy conversion inside the fuel cell. It is composed of proton exchange membrane (PEM), catalyst layer (CL) and gas diffusion layer (GDL) .
Effect:The membrane electrode is responsible for the transport of multiphase substances (including liquid water, hydrogen, oxygen, proton and electron transport) in the fuel cell, and is responsible for the conversion of chemical energy of the fuel hydrogen into electricity through electrochemical reactions. The performance and cost of membrane electrodes affect and even determine the performance, life and cost of PEMFC.
