Electrolytic metallurgy introduction:Electrolytic metallurgy, in which metals are extracted from ores or compounds by chemical changes caused by electric currents passing through them.The electrolysis process is carried out in an electrolytic cell. The electrolytic cell is composed of positive and negative electrodes immersed in a solution containing positive and negative ions, respectively. The current (that is, the electron) flows into the negative electrode (the cathode). The positively charged positive ions in the solution migrate to the cathode and combine with the electron to become neutral elements or molecules. The negatively charged ions migrate to another electrode (the anode), giving away electrons and becoming neutral elements or molecules.
